Polish-born, Oxford-educated Dr. Pawel Maciejko specializes in the history of Jewish heterodoxy in the early modern period. Initially a Mandel Scholar at the University’s Scholion - Interdisciplinary Research Center in the Humanities and Jewish Studies, he was appointed to its Department of Jewish Thought in 2008. Dr. Maciejko’s research grants include an ERC Starting Grant for his study of Jewish conversions to Christianity. He has published widely, with his book The Mixed Multitude: Jacob Frank and the Frankist Movement 1755-1816 winning the Salo Baron Prize and the Hebrew University’s Polonsky Prize for Creativity and Originality in Humanistic Disciplines. In 2012, he was inducted into the Young Academy of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
