Yoel Greenberg - Viola

A member of the Carmel Quartet since November 2003, Yoel
Greenberg started playing the violin at age 9, studying with Walter Reiter, Rimma Kaminkovsky and Prof. David
Chen at the Jerusalem Conservatory, graduating with honours
in 1993. After serving as an officer in the IDF, Yoel
completed a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science and an M.A. in musicology
in the Hebrew University,
Jerusalem, both
with distinction, while studying viola with Orah Shiran. He is now writing a Ph.D. in Musicology in the Hebrew University,
where he teaches musical analysis. Yoel lectures
regularly about music, presenting numerous concerts in venues such as the
Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Open University and the Buchmann-Mehta
School of Music in the Tel
Aviv University.
Yoel also performs regularly as a soloist with
orchestras throughout Israel,
including the Hillel Symphony Orchestra, the Tel Aviv Soloists and others. Yoel has received numerous prizes and scholarships,
including second prize in the viola category in the 2004 Aviv Competitions. Yoel plays a viola by Otto Erdesz
on generous loan from Rivka Golani.
